I wrote the following words in July of 2006. Our core group of 8 adults began meeting in September and we had our first public gathering on Christmas Eve of 2006. Although these statistics may be slightly different, the realities remain the same. The vision and pursuit remains the same today… As the men of the home go, so goes the home. As the men of the church go, so goes the church. As the men of the community go, so goes the community. God, call men to Yourself and emblazon them with the courage to display Your glory!
Did you know that the typical U.S. Congregation draws an adult crowd that’s 61% female, 39% male?
Did you know that on any given Sunday there are 13 million more adult women than men in America’s churches?
Did you know that this Sunday almost 25 percent of married, churchgoing women will worship without their husbands?
Did you know that as many as 90 percent of the boys who are being raised in church will abandon it by their 20th birthday?
Did you know that more than 90 percent of American men believe in God, and five out of six call themselves Christians? Did you know that only two out of six attend church on a given Sunday? Did you know that the average man accepts the reality of Jesus Christ, but fails to see any value in going to church?
What if Crossings Community Church reached out to the men of Katy in order to reach the neighborhoods, subdivisions, the city, and the world? The key to transforming the households of Katy and beyond is men understanding their biblical role as leader, husband, and father. What if the next generation was raised by Godly fathers who understand what it means to live in a relationship with Jesus Christ? What if the businesses of the city were filled with men who understand what it means to be a Godly leader?
Crossings Community will engage, equip, and empower homes for gospel transformation through tirelessly challenging and discipling men.
